Humpback Whale

1. WHERE IT LIVES

Humpback whales live in all the oceans in the world, except in the "polar" areas.
They live on the East Coast of Canada and in the Bay of Fundy.

2. APPEARANCE

Humpback whales are 45 to 52 feet long.
A humpback’s mouth is very large and rounded.
Humpback whales are mostly grey or black.
Females are slightly larger than males.
They have two blowholes located near the top of the head.

3. FOOD      

Humpback whales eat a lot of food because they are so big.
But, even though it is big, it likes to eat small things.
In Canada, humpback whales like to eat a lot of fish.

Humpback whales have a baby every two to three years.
The baby whales are called calves.

6. INTERESTING FACTS

The humpback whale breathes oxygen from the air, so it must surface to breathe.
Humpback whales sing amazing songs.
Humpbacks travel in large, loose groups.
Humpback whales have a life expectancy of 45-50 years.
