DISCUS

Question:
What aspects of their culture will the Chinese share with the world during the Olympic ceremonies?

Overview:

Hosting the Olympic Games is an incredible honour.   “The organizers in Beijing have had seven years to prepare for the Olympic Games.  On July 13, 2001, the International Olympic Committee announced Beijing had won the rights to host the 2008 Olympic Games.  Toronto came in second.” (Canadian Olympic School Program: The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games).   If Toronto, Canada would have won the rights to host the game, we can be certain that the upcoming Olympic ceremony would be considerably different than it will be in Beijing, China.    We can expect this because Chinese culture is very different from Canadian culture.     However, the Olympics provides a platform for sharing between cultures and countries.
