Summary of the event. What actually happens?

Well what happens is normally what would happen in a usually everyday baseball game.  Usually they start the game like this:  Five minutes before the game starts the umpire and the team managers meet.  Once they are finished talking the game begins usually with the national anthem of the United States but in the Olympic they use the national Anthem of the trams country.  Then the teams take their positions, the umpire calls play and the game begins.  After that the game is played like a normal everyday baseball game.

What does it feel like to participate?

When you participate in baseball it is like any other sport you play.  When you participate in a sport it makes you happy and it is fun even if you lose, but when you win it makes you even happier. That is what it feels like to play baseball.

What kind of training is involved?

You need to play baseball.  A lot of baseball and then you have to try and make it on a baseball tram like the Blue Jays.  After you make it on the team all you need to do is be the best player and then if you are the best player you probably will make it on it the National team.

What equipment do you need?

For Olympic Baseball it’s basically the same equipment as for normal baseball.  You need a ball which is made up of layers of string and rubber.  These layers surround a cork center.  Soft ball is the same only with a bigger ball.  A bat is used to hit the ball.  Players wear baseball caps to tell teams apart.  They also wear hats so the sun doesn’t get in their eyes.   A batter’s glove is used only by the batter.  The batter wears these gloves so he can keep a firm grip on the bat so when he swings the bat won’t swing out of his hands.  Base ball needs to be played on a field of grass and dirt or artificial turf.  The field is called a diamond the in field the area that home plate and the bases are in form a diamond shape.  The players who play in the field psiton war a leather glove that is made for catching the ball.  This is the gloves only use.  A helmet is worn by the batter.  He wears this helmet to protect his head so it doesn’t get hit by the ball.  Another helmet is worn by the catcher.  It is a full face helmet and it protects the catchers face.  Shin guards and knee pads are also used in Baseball they can be worn by any player.

When and where is the event being held during the upcoming Olympics in Beijing?

The Baseball games will be held in the Wukesong Baseball field in the Wukesong Culture and Sports Center.
