CANOE/KAYAK - FLATWATER

The paddler faces forward and the paddle are not attached to the boat any way and it is powered by human strength and energy the whole time. For flat water canoeing you need calm whether and water surfaces. And it is based on pure speed. For the most impressive event on white water in the Olympics is flat water. And they race each other for either 500m to 1000m on water paddling.

How do you think it would feel to go across the finish line and win it for your country? And I think that if you were to participate in this wonderful sport that it would feel wonderful the wind in your hair as you win that event for the country that you love. But just imagine how tired you would be after you paddle as hard as you can for at least 500m. I wonder how any one can paddle like that.

But I also think that you would have to train for it all year round and that you would have to have some pretty big pipes on you to keep up with the other guys in the canoe. You would have to watch what you eat so not to get too much fat on you instead you would have to be working out every day for at least 4 hours. Whether it’s on the water or just doing pushups you would be pretty strong after you were finished the event. And if you want to get started in this event you can get in touch with the British Canoe union, they will put you in touch with your nearest club.

There is a lot of equipment you need in order to participate in this event.  You will need a paddle to row your canoe or kayak with, a canoe or kayak, and you will also need to have a helmet incase you fall out and hit your head on another object.  Another essential piece of equipment that is required is a life jacket to ensure that you don’t fall out and drown.

In the up coming Olympics will be held at Beijing on August 11th to the 23rd in 2008.
