Anaconda

Appearance (What they look like)

The anaconda is the biggest snake in the world because of how thick it is not how long it is.
But it can still grow up to 29 feet long.
An anaconda can weigh up to 550 pounds!
The female anacondas usually weight more than the males.
The anaconda can reach up to 12 inches wide.

Habitat (Where they live)

Anacondas live in all kinds of forests, such as tropical forests.
They prefer to be by the water, riverbank trees, or shallow caves to keep cool.
When they are on land they are thick and cannot move as fast as they do in the water.
Anacondas can stay under water for up to 10 minutes.

Diet (What they eat)

Anacondas feed on large rodents, deer, fish, turtles and birds.
They have been known to take on bigger animals such as jaguars.
The baby anacondas feed on mice and chicks.
Anacondas have a very slow digestive system; they will rest for several days after a meal.

Babies

Anacondas usually stay alone except for in the mating season.
During the breeding season, the female anaconda smells different and this smell attracts the male anaconda.
Male anacondas smell the air by flicking out their tongue.
The pregnancy time for the female is usually six months.
A typical anaconda can have between 20 and 40 babies.
They are born live.

Enemies

Anacondas do not have any real threats except for people, with the main reason being their size.
Because they are so big, it would be very difficult for another animal to eat it, although jaguars have been known to try.
