The Calgary Foundation is an organization working to build stronger communities in Canada and around the world. It models inclusiveness and respects independence and diversity within society. As part of a production team working for the Calgary Foundation, you have been asked to create a virtual display on life in Japan during the Edo period, for an upcoming cultural festival. Your objective is to help those attending the festival understand the worldviews of Edo Japan by demonstrating how the power and authority wielded by the Shogun affected every aspect of Japanese society.
Your virtual display will consist of a power point presentation based on your unique role within the Japanese social class system during the Edo period. To begin your group work, the Emperor (teacher) will appoint a shogun, who will be responsible for assigning the roles you will take within society. Each group will represent themselves in a power point production to tell the story of your group’s role in society and to clarify your worldview. In the process, you will discover how you fit into a society based on the “Way of the Warrior.”
