Acadia

Acadia (where Acadians are from) is an area in Eastern Canada, mostly in Nova Scotia.  It used to be a French colony. During the French and Indian War (1755–1763) many Acadians were forced to move south by the British, including Louisiana, where their descendants came to be known as Cajuns.
