Meteghan

Meteghan is a Canadian fishing community in Digby County, Nova Scotia.  There are 1 653 people that live in Meteghan, but there about 10 000 that live in the surrounding wooded area.

Meteghan gets its name from the Native term "Mitihikan" meaning blue rocks.  It was founded in 1785 by Prudent Robichaud, Joseph LeBlanc, and other Acadian families. Meteghan is the largest of several communities that comprise the Clare Municipal District.
