Clues to the Treasure

Many people from different lands and cultures have come to settle in Alberta.  Both native-born Albertans and immigrants to the province have their own unique story to tell. 

Your teacher will assign you an historical group from Alberta’s past.  Go to the Historical Groups Artifacts file and choose the group artifact from Alberta’s history that you find most interesting.  What can we learn from this artifact about the people in Alberta’s past? What does it tell us about their lives and the communities they lived in? 

  1. With the help of a partner, analyze your artifact on the Artifact Chart, looking for clues to answer the questions. Write your observations in the Clues section of the chart.
  1. With the help of your partner, complete the Conclusions part of your chart.  Explain how you came to your conclusions.
  1. List one or two questions you would like to find out about your artifact in the Inquiry section at the bottom of your chart.
