TASK 3 - BE THE CHANGE

Are you going to lobby the government to change the youth criminal justice system or are you going to support the current legislation and system through advocacy.  You must decide which role best suits your opinion of Canada’s youth justice system before proceeding with this task.

Advocates:  Your campaign should highlight some of the strengths of Canada’s youth justice system and mention ways the general public can get involved in supporting the rehabilitation of youth offenders.

Lobbyists:  Your campaign should highlight some of the weaknesses of Canada’s youth justice system and mention your proposed changes to the legislation. 

STEP ONE: Advertising Insiders
Visit the following websites which offer information on how to run a successful advertising campaign.  These websites highlight some of the tricks advertisers use in order to draw people into their various campaigns.   Refer back to these websites as you make your own print ad and commercial.

 

STEP TWO: Print Ad
Create an 8.5 X 11 print ad supporting your position on Canada’s youth justice system. 

This ad should be designed to run in a local, regional, and national media source and is intended to rally support for your position.

STEP THREE: 30 Second Commercial
Using the technology available to you, create a thirty second commercial supporting your position on Canada’s youth justice system. 

This commercial should be designed to run on the popular site YouTube.
